We live in a two-bedroom, two-bath prewar apartment, a couple of miles from Lake Michigan and Wrigley Field. Seen my last live game. But I digress. Gonna do a mess of that in the near future. Miss the live game.
Got my first treatment a couple of days ago for this stage four malignancy. Woe is me. It was two shots in my belly that reportedly last a month or so with some pills to sing along. The process was fine, the people pros, their concern feels genuine, but I feel that drop dead date closer to months than years.
SNZ is handling it like a champ, but she’s really pro-doctor as her dad was an MD for decades. And, of course, she consults with him now and again, and he’s been helpful for her. But I know her to be an unrepentant pushy pill pusher. My pill alarm clock.
My legs have become problematic making me become more station to station (one chair to one table to one doorway as I travel from room to room) while I continue to lose weight. I haven’t seen any of my neighbors since the breaking news. Some know, some suspect, and some think c’est la vie, I suppose.
So how does one holiday when one is feeling all heathen and when having any real energy promotes as much guilt as a ten count felony indictment? (Reading the book “Injustice: How Politics and Fear Vanquished America’s Justice Department.”)
To the question, I don’t know yet. Will let ya know if we pull it off.
About the abode—100 + years ago, insulation was spotty at best, so a few of the windows require thermal curtains. One of those windows is in the second bedroom where I write and make old man music. Those curtains are black and it feels like London 1940. Sort of fitting, don’t ya think?
I’m on my down slope. And fear not. Folly. This is a test.
It sounds like you have a great care team. I hope they remain this way for you. And SNZ is looking out for you just as I knew she would.
I’m just blessed that I get to read your words and hear your music again. 🙏🏾🩵
The tune is a definite banger. I’d bop this in my headphones for my walks and workout sessions.
Thank you, trE. I’m with you, finding it fortunate to read and hear (because he reads to me what he writes) rDouglas’s words and thoughts, and then hear the music/tone poems he creates. I’m always left amazed and filled with joy.
You’re most welcome. Please hug him for me, if it’s allowed and welcomed. Happy weekend to both of you.
Hug given. 🙂
Thank you!
Yep you be right about the care team(s)! So far real deals and in Evanston IL, one of my favorite towns on the whole of the planet. Has a great vibe, this college town…Northwestern. Have lived there before, hope to do so again. Thanks …TRE…regards r.Douglas. And thanks for the comment ’bout the beat….which was a bit heavily over produced….could not get the drum transience subtle enough. Enjoy your weekend.
You’re most welcome! Enjoy yours as well.
Wow that cold Chi-town chill finds all sorts of ways into our otherwise warm abode. No amount of flex seal products will batten down those wind whispers.
I’m serenely nodding to your latest musical offering.
A sis-in-law up in the mountains made padded roman shades, like window-sized quilts. Magnets down the sides kept them sealed tight when they were closed. And they were pretty to boot. Didn’t admit any light, but they were warm.
I stopped coming by some months back when you were locked down. Lousy excuse you’ve come up with, by the way. But no matter. It’s good to see you again, and hear another of your bits of music. You could send some of that winter stuff down here, you know. Denver was about 75 degrees yesterday and we’ve yet to see any snow. Best to you and SNZ
Your music (I.e., tone poem) on this post (first track listed) is just wonderful!
